David Rogers is being held in the Bergen County Jail on $45,000 bail (not $35,000, as erroneously reported elsewhere).
East Rutherford police weren’t the only ones who charged Rogers in connection with the incident.
Paramus police charged him with theft.
The East Rutherford counts:
• eluding police;
• eluding with a “substantial risk of injury”;
• receiving stolen property;
• possession of burglar tools;
The owner of the 2005 Toyota Sequoia left it running around 5:45 Tuesday morning as he went inside the Starbucks, only to have it stolen moments later, police said.
Paramus police issued an alert soon afterward, and East Rutherford Police Officer Jeffery Perry spotted the vehicle on Route 17 South.
He followed it onto westbound Route 3 and then Route 21 South before finally stopping the vehicle on Bridge Street, where he arrested Rogers.
