UPDATE: A 20-year-old Connecticut man who’d attended UConn’s loss to undefeated Duke at the Izod Center was struck and killed by a car last night while trying to cross eastbound Route 3 in East Rutherford, authorities said.
No charges were filed against the 35-year-old driver in the 10:35 p.m. incident following the NCAA college basketball game, police said. An investigation was continuing.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Fatal Accident Investigations Unit joined East Rutherford police, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification, New Jersey State Police and Rutherford police at the scene.
Another man, 19, also was struck nearby and later hospitalized with injuries that police said weren’t life-threatening.
