Nadim Dulal, 28, of Haledon posted $1,000 bail and was released shortly after his arrest last Thursday, records show.
Officers James Winand and Steven Ondrof took him into custody after responding to a domestic dispute call at the EconoLodge on Washington Avenue, Police Chief Thomas Nielsen said Tuesday.
Dulal and the victim "were arguing inside their room when the defendant bit the victim upon her face and punched her on the left side of her head with a closed fist," Nielsen said. "The victim sustained bruising, bleeding and pain from the assault."
The hotel room was also trashed, he said.
Dulal was charged with simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment. A Feb. 18 Municipal Court hearing was set.
A judge also issued a protective order.
