Funeral arrangements set for longtime Carlstadt mayor

The funeral for former longtime Carlstadt Mayor Dominick Presto is scheduled for next Thursday, with visiting Tuesday and Wednesday at Kimak Funeral Home.

Presto, 87, was mayor for nearly 25 years and a practicing attorney for more than 50. A Democrat, he won his first mayoral race in 1971 and never looked back.

He was also on the Board of Directors of the Felician School for Exceptional Children in Lodi for nearly four decades.

“As a young lawyer starting out in South Bergen, I along with many of my colleagues looked up to Mayor Presto as the ultimate lawyer, elected official and, later on, as a statesman,” said Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli.

The mayor’s widow, Detective Sgt. Silvia Presto, is an investigator with the prosecutor’s office.

The funeral is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Church in East Rutherford, followed by interment at St. Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.

Visiting hours are scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 to 4 and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Presto’s family asks that donations be made to The Felician School, 260 South Main Street, Lodi.
