Ex-con back behind bars after Rutherford burglary

THE BACK STORY: Jose Medina steered clear of prison for a decade, but now he’s in jail pending the outcome of burglary charges following his arrest in Rutherford.

Medina, 44, served two prison stretches from January 2001 to December 2002 on drug related convictions out of Essex County, records show.

Then on Friday, Rutherford police said he tried to break into a home and then was scared off by a resident and chased by a good Samaritan.

A police officer caught him a short distance away.

Medina — also known as “Angel Mendez” — was being held on $25,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.
