Molinelli this afternoon said the Bergen County Police Department and the New Jersey State Police will sweep all Bergen County synagogues with K9 units, looking for “accelerants and flammables” within a ten-mile radius of the home of a 19-year-old Lodi man charged in the firebombing of a Rutherford rabbi’s home and an arson fire behind a Paramus house temple.

The “Project Safe” task force begins the sweeps at 4 this afternoon and will continue for 48 hours, Molinelli said.
The prosecutor said he went public so that if people see the dogs and uniformed officers around, they’ll “be aware of [the] purpose and objective.”
He thanked Bergen County Police Chief Brian Higgins and N.J. State Police Superintendent Col. Rick Fuentes, a Bergen County native.
