Bergen drug task arrest in East Rutherford yields heroin, crack

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Bergen County authorities busted a 43-year-old Newark carpenter who they said tried to sell $5,000 worth of heroin and crack to an undercover officer.

Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said that members of his Narcotic Task Force moved in when Jessie Smith showed up at an East Rutherford location Monday with 17 bricks of heroin – totaling 850 bags – and two dozen bags of crack.

Smith was being held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail following his arraignment Tuesday on charges of with possessing heroin and crack with the intent to distribute both.
