Steve Banom, 85, Of Rutherford

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Steve Banom, a resident of Rutherford, died Monday, Feb. 29. He was 85.

Banom served with the Army during the Korean War. He was employed with Colgate-Palmolive in Jersey City in Research & Development before retiring in 1985 after 35 years. He was also a volunteer firefighter in the late 1950s and 60s for nine years with Engine 5.

He is survived by his children Michael and wife Janice; Steven and his wife Roseann; Janice and her husband Jerry Jiosi; Joann Banom; Mark Banom; and nine grandchildren, Michael, John, Patrick, Janice, Steven, Michelle, Stephanie, Kristen and Adriana.

He was predeceased by his wife Marian.
