A Korean War veteran, Pizzone owned Columbia Filters in Rutherford for over 40 years. He was a member of the Tiro A Segno in New York City -- a private club and the oldest Italian heritage organization in the U.S. -- since 1971.
He was an active fundraiser for the Tiro Foundation, which established the Visiting Faculty Fellowship in Italian American culture at New York University. In addition, the foundation has made generous contributions to local charities, as well as the 911 Fund.
Pizzone was also a past honoree and member of the Covenant House Lifeline Committee for over 25 years. He was a member at White Beeches Country Club & Adios Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly Pizzone; children Nicky, Maggie and her husband Tom, and Cathy; step-son Adam; and grandchildren Matthew, Kerrin, Nicholas, Thomas, Luc and Jude.
Pizzone was predeceased by his wife, Catherine.
Visiting hours will be from 2-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the Macagna Diffily Onorato Funeral Home, 41 Ames Ave., in Rutherford. The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, from the funeral home, to the St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, in Rutherford, for a 9:30 a.m. funeral blessing. Internment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, in North Arlington.
