RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Maureen A. LaPorta (nee) Matteo, 76 of Rutherford, passed away March 10, 2016, with her family by her side.
Born in Hackensack to Frank and Mary Matteo, she worked as a secretary to Judge F. Michael Giles at the Essex County Court House in Newark for many years, retiring in 2010.
She was the wife of Philip La Porta, who predeceased her in 2010; mother of Donna La Porta and her husband Joseph Bonanno, Phillip LaPorta and his wife Laure and David LaPorta and his wife Kelly; grandmother of Joseph Bonanno and Paris LaPorta; and sister of Richard Matteo. She also was mom to Kenneth Meister and his sons Zack and Owen and her loving caregiver Darlene Williams.
The funeral is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Macagna Diffily Onorato Funeral Home, 41 Ames Ave., Rutherford, thence to St. Mary RC Church, Rutherford, where a funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 am. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst.
Family & Friends will be received from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
