Born in Weehawken, Wisniewski was the superintendent of schools for Weehawken Board of Education for 15 years. He retired in 1995. He was a football coach for Weehawken High School for many years.
He was an avid golfer, and a member of Weehawken Golf Club and Glades Country Club, in Naples, Florida. He was also a private pilot. He enjoyed flying out of Caldwell Airport, and he was a member of AOPA.
Wisniewski is survived by his wife, Rosa; children Joseph and his wife Laura, and Margaret Scott and her husband Terry; grandchildren Jonathan, Drew and Madison Scott, and Ava and Sabrina Wisniewski; and sisters Lucille Sabato and Barbara De Lorenzo.
He was preceded by his parents, Joseph and Lucille Wisniewski, and his siblings, Terry Kelly and Peter Wisniewski.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., in Rutherford, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. The funeral will be from the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:30 a.m. mass at the Church of Saint Mary, 91 Home Ave., in Rutherford. A prayer service will follow, at the East Ridgelawn Chapel, in Clifton.
