Frederick H. Mier, 89, Former Carlstadt Resident

CARLSTADT, N.J. -- Frederick H. Mier -- a Pompton Plains resident, formerly of Carlstadt -- died on Sunday, May 22. He was 89.

A Navy veteran of World War II, Mier worked for Western Union in Paterson for 40 years. He was a member of the Carlstadt First Presbyterian Church, a life member of the Carlstadt VFW Post 3149, and a former member and past president of the Carlstadt Friendship Club.

He is survived by his wife, Helen (Arena) Mier; daughters Kathleen Bulger and her husband Ed, Nancy Auletta and her husband Eddie, Ginny Valentine and her husband Lee, Lori Black, and Judy Sotardi; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and siblings Jack Mier and Lois Boyd.

Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, at the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad St., in Carlstadt. Interment will be private.
