Edward R. Baker, 92, East Rutherford Resident

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Edward R. Baker, of East Rutherford, died on Saturday, May 21. He was 92.

Born in Jersey City, Baker was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 106th Cannon Company, from 1943-1946. Before he retired, he was a coilwinder for Westinghouse Elevator Division in Jersey City for 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Helen (Pitula) Baker; children Bruce Baker and his wife Mary, Susan Arnold and her husband Richard, and Nancy Megaro and her husband Daniel; grandchildren Steven Baker, Deena Megaro, Adam Arnold and Nicole Megaro; adopted granddaughter Janitza Aquino; great-grandchild Kyleigh Baker; and nieces and nephews Nancy Coon, Alan Godfrey, Diane Godfrey and many others.

Baker was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Madeline Baker, and his sisters, Dorothy Brightman, Ellen Lemke and Madeleine Godfrey.

Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, and 9-10 a.m. on Thursday, at Costa Memorial Home, 170 Central Ave., in Hasbrouck Heights. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow, at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, in Arneytown.
