Carolyn (Miller) Sailer, 73, Rutherford Resident

RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Carolyn (Miller) Sailer -- a Rutherford resident, formerly of Jersey City -- died on Sunday, April 24. She was 73.

Sailer graduated from New York City’s Eastern School for Physician Aids. She began her career at the Jersey City Medical Center and then served 37 years as a research assistant at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

She is survived by her husband, Ludwig "Lou" Sailer; siblings Noreen Pope, William Miller, Marybeth Miller, Eileen Hayes and Cathleen McGrath; several nieces and nephews, including Bridget Hayes, John Hayes and Matthew McGrath; and many close relatives and friends.

Sailer was predeceased by her parents, John and Helen Miller.

Visiting hours will be from at 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, at the Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., in Rutherford. The funeral will be Thursday, gathering at 8:30 a.m. in the funeral home, for 9:30 mass at the Church of Saint Mary, in Rutherford, with Fr. Alex Santora officiating. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Mausoleum, in North Arlington.
