Anthony J. Coronato, 90, Lifelong East Rutherford Resident

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Lifelong East Rutherford resident Anthony J. "Sonny" Coronato died Monday, May 16. He was 90.

Coronato served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. 

For more than 60 years, he was a drummer known as "Sonny Skins," and worked as an entertainer and teacher. 

Coronato is survived by his wife, Carol Ann (Robertson) Coronato; his children and their spouses: his daughter, Deborah B. Balchan and her husband Philip, his daughter Dale M. Gellis and her husband Jeff and his son Tyrone A. Coronato and his wife Meredith. 

He also is survived by his sister, Angela Pinto; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The cremation was private. 

A memorial visitation will be conducted from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad St., Carlstadt with a service at 4 p.m.
