Andrew Francis Skeie, 72, Lifelong Rutherford Resident

RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Lifelong Rutherford resident Andrew Francis Skeie died Saturday, May 7. He was 72. 

Skeie served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Carlstadt American Legion Post 69, the Knights of Columbus St. Ann Council #2853 in Fair Lawn and a volunteer for the Special Olympics. 

For more than 25 years, he worked for the New York Times delivery in Edison and retired as the floorman in the delivery department with the drivers union. 

Prior to that, he was a bartender at the Cornerstone Inn in Carlstadt and Wayne Manor. 

Skeie is survived by his daughter Meredith M. Robinson and her husband Daniel; and grandchildren, Brigid, Katherine, Patrick, Eliza and Harley. 

He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth B. (Pittari) Skeie.

The funeral is departing at 9 a.m. Thursday from the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad St., Carlstadt for a 9:30 a.m. funeral Mass in Assumption Church, Wood-Ridge. 

Cremation will be private. 

Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
