The facility at 331 First Street underwent major renovations and a lobby upgrade, he said.
The new state-of-the-art postal lobby features the latest point-of-sale digital terminals, a redesigned floor layout, and a modern color scheme, Diaz said.
Part of the new layout is a special memorial area featuring a plaque dedicated to two Carlstadt heroes: Staff Sgt. Frank T. Carvill and Lance Cpl. Michael A. Schwarz (Public Law 111–359).
“Our three main goals throughout the entire renovation process were to give the community a great place to conduct their postal business, provide our employees a positive work environment, and furnish a respectful memorial space for the plaque honoring Staff Sergeant Carvill and Lance Corporal Schwarz,” said Diaz.
The post office, a branch of the Rutherford Post Office, will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m until noon on Saturdays.
Post office boxes will be accessible during regular weekday business hours and from 8 a.m.– 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
Keys for those boxes are available through Friday at the East Rutherford branch.
“I trust everyone will be pleased with our newly renovated Carlstadt Post Office,” Diaz said.
