Way was recently named the official spokesperson for LifeVAC, a life-saving device used to assist people who are choking.
Traditionally, the Heimlich Maneuver is used for most individuals. But for Way, who has muscular dystrophy, and other people with similar medical complications, the maneuver cannot always be utilized.

"The most important thing is that people just don’t know," Way said.
"If I go to a restaurant and start choking, they’ll have no idea [what to do]."
Way became a natural spokesperson for the device after his years of promoting causes related to muscular dystrophy. He's worked with the Muscular Dystrophy Association for over ten years.
"I’ve always been on stage speaking to large groups of people, helping to raise money and letting them know what their money goes to," Way said. "Those funds have directly improved and saved my life."
Way hopes to have a LifeVAC as easily accessible as defibrillators in all public buildings.
