EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Happy birthday to East Rutherford resident Edwin M. Anzalone, better known as Fireman Ed.
Fireman Ed is a superfan of the New York Jets and was born Sept. 19, 1959. He turns 57 on Monday.
He became one of the most well-known NFL fans by appearing on local radio shows and leading the crowds in the "J-E-T-S, Jets!, Jets!, Jets!" chant.
He has been leading the J-E-T-S chant from Section 134 of the Meadowlands since 1986.
He retired from his mascot-type role in 2012, but returned again in 2015.
He was a New York City Fireman, until an injury forced him into early retirement in 2007.
