This coming Saturday, team members will participate in a competition in Mahwah, followed by a two-day event, Feb. 26-28, in Atlantic City

On the horizon is a "Lucky 7 Showcase" in June celebrating the group's seventh year.

"We proudly celebrate our dancers each year with an annual showcase highlighting all their efforts and commitment," said co-owner Omar Hekal. "[These] demonstrate that students can be inspired to achieve every goal they set for themselves with a great amount of work and dedication."

Hekal opened the Allegro Arts Academy with Giuseppe Cacioppo in 2009. It boasts a state of the art facility, highly qualified and trained instructors, private dance lessons and an award winning dance team.

The Industrial Road academy offers classes in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, flamenco, hip-hop and acrobatics.

It has three dance teams -- comprised of Bergen, Passaic and Hudson County youth -- that perform solos, trios, groups and a production. They're broken down by age group: minis (ages 6-9), juniors (9-12) and teens (13 and up).

The minis include Bethany Negron, Hailey Lamberty, Jadyn Troncone, Sophia DeCesare and Marko Huzovic. The juniors: Isabella Martinez, Katelyn Pose and Ava Huzovic. The teens: Maya Davila, Chloe Jamie, Calista Lozano, Becky Zambrano and Rebeca Rojas.

Davila recently was accepted into a three-week Teen Peridance Summer Intensive and received the Weekend Warrior Award at the 24 Seven Dance Convention.

"Allegro Arts Academy was founded on the dream of promoting the love of artistic expression," Hekal said. "It is our mission to pass on this passion for the arts to children of all ages so that they may develop a well-rounded and cultured spirit to succeed in every aspect of their lives."

Registration is open for the June 26 "Lucky 7 Showcase" at the Arthur F. Couch Performing Arts Center, 11 Mill Ridge Road in Secaucus.
