The exhibit contains objects never before displayed to the public, such as the high chair used by the poet and his brother, along with objects once displayed by the Rutherford Public Library, including the Williams figure by sculptor Frances Hulmes and the trademark hat worn by the poet.
Other items on display include equipment from Williams’ office and the piano played by both Williams’ mother and daughter-in-law at the Church of Our Father, Unitarian, in Rutherford.
Williams biographer Neil Baldwin, professor of theater and dance and director of The Creative Research Center at Montclair State University, will speak at the event.
After his talk, he will be available to sign copies of his book, “To All Gentleness: William Carlos Williams, the Doctor Poet.”
The museum is located at 91 Crane Ave.
