Featuring the hit singles "With Or Without You," "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and "Where The Streets Have No Name," "The Joshu Tree" was U2's first #1 album in the United States.
It also topped the global charts, selling more than 25 million copies.
The New Jersey show is the next-to-last in North America before the band performs in London, Berlin, Rome, Barcelona, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam -- and at Croke Park in Dublin, the site of two historic concerts in June 1987.
The tour begins in Vancouver on May 12 and includes U2's first-ever headlining spot at Bonnnaroo, in Tennessee, June 8-11.
"Every song [from the album]. Every show," the band promises.
Sales will be limited to four tickets per person for pre-sale and six per person for general public sale.
“It seems like we have come full circle from when 'The Joshua Tree' songs were originally writtten, with global upheaval, extreme right wing politics and some fundamental human rights at risk,” said guitarist The Edge. “To celebrate the album - as these songs seem so relevant and prescient of these times too - we decided to do these shows.
"It feels right for now. We’re looking forward to it.”
Lead singer Bono, meanwhile, called the seminal album "quite an opera."
