Scientist, Inventor, Musician, Humanitarian: Charles Koester Of Glen Rock, 91 Charles John Koester of Glen Rock, known to many as Chuck, died on April 18 in his home, with his loving wife Mildred (Millie) at his side, after a brave battle with Alzheimer’s.  Charles was born in Niagara Falls, NY on January 26, 1929 to Carl John and Helen Hogan Koester. After graduating from Fostoria High School in 1946, he received a B.S. in physics from Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1950 and his Ph.D. in physics and optics from the University of Rochester in 1955.   He married Mildred Ruby Thompson of Wilmerding, PA on July 18, 1953. Mahwah, Wayne Vocalists Awarded Thousands In Scholarships From Ridgewood Choral A pair of high school seniors from Bergen and Passaic counties were named Ridgewood Choral's scholarship winners. Wayne Valley soprano vocalist Laura Cardona won the of the 2019 Florence Reinauer Memorial Music Award of $2500 for excellence in instrumental or vocal performance.  The award is given to a high school senior who intends to continue his or her musical education at an institute of higher learning. Instituted in 1967, the fund was later endowed by Franklin Reinauer as a memorial to his wife Florence. The Choral has awarded more than $45,000 to encourage talented young …
