A Hudson County driver who didn’t have a license, registration or insurance got out of her SUV and bolted following a predawn crash in Washington Township, authorities said. Responding officers found the 29-year-old North Bergen woman running from the scene in sandals after crashing her 2018 Honda CRV into a utility pole near the corner of Washington and Van Emburgh Avenues around 5 a.m. Sunday, Police Chief Rich Skinner said. A Maywood firefighter was injured when a tree fell onto an engine -- one of several people hurt by falling branches, limbs and trees in Bergen and Passaic counties during Tuesday's storm, responders said. A 71-year-old man also required medical attention after a tree fell on his car on Route 17 in Ridgewood as Tropical Storm Isaias barreled through. Washington Township Four-Car Pileup Sends Three To Hospital
Three victims were hospitalized after a four-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon in Washington Township. None of the injuries was considered serious after the pileup at the Van Emburgh and Washington avenues. Two flatbed tow trucks cleared the wreckage -- two of them Jeeps -- from the busy intersection.
