Heavy rain on Friday, Sept. 29 closed major roadways across New Jersey. Gov. Phil Murphy declared a State of Emergency in the late afternoon, as rain continued falling, leaving drivers trapped in flood waters across the state. Dunderhook Road at Paramus Road in Paramus remained closed due to flooding, leading the borough's Office of Emergency Management to urge an evacuation of the area late Friday afternoon. Ed Sheeran Shows Still On At MetLife Stadium
A few days of hazardous air quality isn't going to stop Ed Sheeran from performing in New Jersey. MetLife Stadium announced Ed Sheeran's two shows, on Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11, will remain on as scheduled. Sheeran is performing at Me Life as part of his +–=÷× Tour (pronounced the Mathematics Tour) with opening acts Khalid and Dylan. This is Sheeran's first shows in the tri-state area since Sept. 2018. Young White Boys Needed To Play Two Kids In New Netflix Movie Filming In Tristate Area
Netflix is looking for two young white boys to star in their next feature film, which is shooting right here in the tri-state area, according to a casting notice at Backstage. The first role is for Mookie, an 11-year-old white boy. Mookie is described as being very overweight and on a strict diet who gets bullied, according to the casting notice. Raritan High School is one of 10 in the United States whose marching bands have been selected to perform at the 80th-anniversary commemorations of D-Day in Normandy, France next year. It's going to cost – individual travel alone is expected to run $6,000 per student -- so fundraising at the Hazlet, NJ school has begun gearing up in earnest. D-Day -- June 6, 1944 – marks the Allied invasion of German-occupied France and the beginning of the liberation of Europe from Nazi tyranny. Whole Foods has set an opening date for its Woodcliff Lake store — one of its four newest locations across the Garden State. The store, located at 500 Chestnut Ridge Rd., is slated to open on Wednesday, July 27, representatives said. A cafe catering to the area's deaf or hard of hearing residents has opened in North Jersey. "Deafs Delight Cafe" -- the first of its kind for the Tri-State area -- is located at 2 Treat Pl., in Newark. The joint is owned by Sandra Rivers, who was born to deaf parents. Paramus' popular Fairway Market will be closing May 15. The market, purchased by Amazon in early March, has remained open in an effort to preserve jobs and serve the community. The closure of the E. Ridgewood Avenue store will allow the reallocation of resources while maintaining operations at seven other locations across the tri-state area, including Woodland Park. Five Coronavirus Deaths, 22 Other Cases Reported At New Milford Nursing Home
Five residents at a nursing home in New Milford have died of coronavirus complications and 16 more tested positive, along with six staff members, its parent company confirmed. There may be more there, management at CareOne said in a release. The final industrial condominium in a 70,000-square-foot Clifton property redeveloped by Tulfra Real Estate has been sold to a food distributor. The 13,108-square-foot condominium located at 700 Route 46 was sold for an undisclosed amount to Agri Exotic Trading Inc. -- which distributes food to hotels, restaurants, and caterers throughout the tri-state area. Classic Corvette Catches Fire In Paramus On Way To Car Show
A classic Corvette headed to a car show Sunday morning caught fire on Route 17 in Paramus. The mid-70s Stingray burst into flames on the highway's northbound side south of Ridgewood Avenue as the driver headed to the 40th annual show and flea market at Bergen Community College. Nutchies Service of Lodi and Paramus handled the tow. The gathering -- which began at 7 a.m. and was running until 4 p.m. -- is considered the largest one-day car show and flea market in the tri-state area.
