UPDATE: Palisades Park police tracked down an SUV driver who they said took off after hitting a 19-year-old North Bergen woman at a notorious intersection. The 75-year-old female Englewood Cliffs motorist received traffic summonses for leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and failing to yield to a pedestrian after officers “checked different combinations of the license plate and matched up surveillance video,” Capt. Police asked the public for help finding the hit-run driver who struck and injured a 19-year-old North Bergen woman with his SUV as she crossed a notorious Palisades Park intersection. The victim was heading south on Broad Avenue and was in the crosswalk at East Columbia Avenue when she was struck around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Capt. Anthony Muccio said. The driver continued going east on East Columbia, said Muccio, the officer in charge of the department. A 76-year-old West Milford woman who was struck by a sedan in Oakland early Friday night died shortly after arriving at the hospital, authorities said. Nina Weil was trying to cross Ramapo Valley Road near the intersection of Elm Street when she was struck around 6:30 p.m. by a 2006 Toyota Corolla operated by a 67-year-old Orange County, NY driver, police Lt. Two people were hospitalized in a chain-reaction Fair Lawn crash involving five vehicles, police said. It began when a 66-year-old Fair Lawn driver suffered a medical episode on Fair Lawn Avenue near Abbott Road shortly before 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sgt. Brian Metzler said. First, his 2019 Audi hit a traffic safety bollard and pedestrian crossing sign, Metzler said. Then the Audi rammed into a 2007 Saturn and two parked vehicles -- a 2017 Nissan and a 2019 Toyota, he said. A man who killed a Teaneck father and his four daughters when his pickup truck veered across a Delaware highway into the path of their minivan was sentenced to a year's probation on Friday, according to a published report. Alvin Hubbard III, of Maryland, could be sentenced to 14 years in prison if he doesn't meet the requirements of his probation. Van Snaps Utility Pole In Ringwood
A driver sustained injuries that weren't considered life-threatening after a van slammed into a utility pole, snapping it, early Wednesday evening in Ringwood. Skyline Drive was closed at Greenwood Lake Turnpike after the crash just after 5:30 p.m. Power had to be cut to the pole so the driver could be taken to the hospital and the van could safely be removed.
