A motorcyclist died after being struck Thursday night in Fair Lawn by a pickup truck driven by an intoxicated electrician who was arrested a short time later, authorities confirmed. The pickup driver, William Clark, 38, of Hawthorne, was charged with vehicular homicide -- also known as death by auto -- in connection with the Oct. 5 crash that killed Harold Almonte, a 33-year-old alternative R&B singer/songwriter. Motorcyclist Hurled Over Route 208 Divider
A motorcyclist from Bergenfield survived being thrown over the divider when he crashed on Route 208 in Franklin Lakes on New Year's afternoon, authorities said. The 19-year-old Bergenfield motorcyclist's 2007 Suzuki GSX hit the median on the northbound side, ejecting him onto the other side, around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, Franklin Lakes Police Capt. Paterson Man Shot In Lobby Of Apartment Building
A man was shot in the lobby of a Paterson apartment building before dawn Saturday, authorities said. Details were sketchy following the 5 a.m. shooting at the four-story Broadway Gardens Apartments on Broadway near Rosa Parks Boulevard. The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s University Hospial in Paterson with a non-fatal gunshot wound, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Bergen County Woman Killed In Nutley Hit-Run
A 75-year-old Bergen County resident was killed Thursday night in a hit-and-run Nutley crash. Roseann Ratz and a friend were crossing the street near Washington Avenue and Rutgers Place when she was struck by a car around 7:30 p.m., Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Nutley Police Chief Thomas J. Strumolo said. Ratz, of Lyndhurst, was taken to St. Joseph’s University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead just before 8 p.m. The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests had been made as of Friday afternoon.
