Bergen County Regional School District Appoints New Superintendent: Meet Dr. Patrick McQueeney
The Westwood Regional Public School District has appointed a new superintendent. Dr. Patrick McQueeney, who has been serving as the leader of Wanaque schools since 2021, will helm the Westwood Regional School District (WWRSD) come November. The move was approved at the Thursday, Sept. 26 WWRSD Board of Ed (BoE) meeting. The nine-member board voted 8-0, with one abstention, to execute a contract with McQueeney, asking him to take the lead as soon as possible, but no later than Nov. 27. Social Media Threat Prompts Shelter In Place For Paramus High School, Police Say
Paramus High School was sheltering in place following a threat made on social media on Friday, Sept. 6, police said. School administration called police around 2 p.m. reporting the threat made by a student, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said. While the threat was unsubstantiated, officers remained at the school during dismissal, where students were released in stages for their safety, the chief said. The threat comes days after two teachers and two students were shot and killed at a high school in Georgia, the shooter identified as 14-year-old student Colt Gray.

Ramapo-lndian Hills Regional High School has hired a new superintendent. In a unanimous vote on Tuesday, May 28, the RIH Board of Education voted 9-0 in favor of approving Dr. Ronnie Tarchichi's contract, which goes into effect July 1. The board also voted 7-0 with two abstentions to terminate the contract of interim superintendent Dr. James Baker. Police in Jefferson Township have released details in the shooting threat that evacuated the middle and high school last month An unidentified male called the high school around 8:30 a.m. Sept. 10, saying he was upset with the school administration and would come to the building with a firearm, Jefferson Police Chief Paul Castimore said. The family of a middle school girl allegedly told to "stay in her own lane" by education officials after being sexually assaulted then bullied has filed a lawsuit against the Morris County district she was enrolled in at the time, reports say.
