A skillful Clifton police sergeant got taken for a wild and dangerous ride when the driver of a fleeing SUV repeatedly tried to ram his patrol car and run him off the road during a nearly 10-mile pursuit, authorities said. Sgt. Andrew Mulick was on patrol in the area of River Road and Old River Road when he spotted a tow truck with no license plates followed by a newer-model Ford Explorer shortly after 4 a.m. last Friday, Oct. 27, Lt. A 26-year-old gas station worker in Clifton was seriously injured when she jumped onto the hood of her car in an attempt to stop a thief and got thrown into the street, authorities said. Convicted Drug Dealer Freed From Prison After 5 Years Nabbed In Chase Near Passaic River
A convicted drug dealer who was only just released from prison was captured after leading Clifton police on a high-speed chase, bailing out and hiding in a row of commercial buildings between the Passaic River and Route 21, authorities said. Remy Castillo, 35, of Newark was released this past November after serving a mandatory five years in state prison for a drug-dealing conviction out of Hudson County, records show. Clifton Girl With Umbrella Fights Off Would-Be Wristlet Robber
A Clifton teen told police she fought off a street robber with her umbrella. The 17-year-old girl said she was walking in the area of Kingsland and River roads just after 10 p.m. Saturday when the robber rushed her from behind and tried to snatch her wristlet, ripping her blouse in the process, Lt. Robert Braken said. She whacked him with the umbrella, she said, and he took off.
