Employee Opens Ridgewood Nail Salon For Day With Bang
An SUV driven by an employee heading in to open a Ridgewood nail salon for the day crashed into the front door. The young worker escaped injury when her Nissan Rogue hit the front of Godwin Nail & Spa on Godwin Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 15. The front door, part of the knee wall and two planters took the brunt of the impact. The rest of the building around the store was spared any serious damage. SUVs Collide In Ridgewood
Two drivers escaped without major injury when their SUVs collided Monday in Ridgewood. The driver of a Cadillac Escalade had a clutch of party balloons with her when she was treated for a minor injury at the scene of the May 1 noontime crash with an Audi Q7 at South Van Dien and East Ridgewood avenues. Basement Fire Quickly Doused In Ridgewood
Ridgewood firefighters made quick work of a Tuesday morning basement blaze. The fire broke out in the utility room of the $3.6 million Crest Road home shortly before 10:30 a.m. April 25. Flooring and/or tile work apparently was being done on the house at the time, responders said. Two adults and a child who were home got out OK, and damage apparently was minimal, they said. Ridgewood Businesses Evacuated After Van Catches Fire
Several businesses in downtown Ridgewood were evacuated as a precaution after a painter's van caught fire on Monday. The van owned by Geraghty Painting & Powerwashing in Ridgewood was unoccupied when the blaze broke out in the parking lot behind the movie theater and other businesses on East Ridgewood Avenue shortly before 1:30 p.m. April 24. An out-of-control SUV barreled clear through the garage of a private home during a collision with a sedan in Ridgewood on Wednesday. No injuries were reported in the chain-reaction crash, which sent the Acura MDX through the North Van Dien Street garage's side wall near Beverly Road around 3:45 p.m. Dec. 21. Nearly three dozen mutual aid companies and well over 100 firefighters helped counter a lack of area hydrants as a fast-moving blaze consumed an Upper Saddle River mansion at the Rockland County border over the weekend. A truck snapped a utility pole in half, downing wires and temporarily blocking access to a Ridgewood school on Monday. The crash occurred on East Glen Avenue near Quackenbush Place just off northbound Route 17 shortly after 9:30 a.m. The driver wasn't injured. A lamp post held up when a sedan slammed into it near the Ridgewood train station. Both occupants of the Volkswagen refused medical treatment after Sunday afternoon's crash along Garber Square near the underpass for New Jersey Transit's Bergen/Main Line. BMW Snaps Ridgewood Utility Pole
A driver escaped serious injury when her BMW sedan took out a utility pole and damaged the base of a light post Friday morning in Ridgewood. Ridgewood EMS took her to The Valley Hospital following the crash on West Ridgewood Avenue. The street was partially closed for several hours while utility crews tended to the pole. Two special young boys will be treated to a parade of first responders this Sunday in Waldwick, thanks to Pink Heals of Bergen County. Both Cole McKeon of Waldwick and Austin “AJ” Katchen of Cliffside Park were diagnosed months apart last year with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that attacks certain types of nerve tissue. Before his first birthday, AJ had successful tumor resection surgery, the first of several operations. He’s also undergone chemotherapy that kept him hospitalized several months. A Jeep remained true to its brand when it landed on its wheels after being T-boned Monday afternoon by a FedEx truck in Ridgewood. Out-Of-Control Dump Truck Crashes Into Ridgewood Backyard Play Set
No one was injured after an out-of-control landscaping dump truck careened down an embankment and into a children’s backyard playset in Ridgewood on Wednesday. The Abma’s Landscaping driver lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the roadway at Beechwood Road and Palmer Court, then headed down the embankment, over a retaining wall and into the playset in a neighboring yard. Ridgewood Police Summons Driver In Crash That Injured 1
The driver of a Ford SUV was issued a summons by Ridgewood police following a Saturday morning collision that injured the driver of a Cadillac sedan. The driver of the sedan was treated for non life-threatening injuries at the scene -- the intersection of Ackerman Avenue and Bellair Road.
