300-Year-Old NJ Restaurant Closing For Renovations
A New Jersey restaurant open for more than 300 years will temporarily close for renovations. The Black Horse Tavern & Pub, located on W. Main Street in Mendham, bills itself as the state's oldest continually running restaurant, dating back to 1742. Over the weekend, the eatery, which serves American classics, said it will be undergoing temporary closure for renovations. "Get ready for a brand-new kitchen and a fresh look!" the Facebook post reads. "We're excited to unveil these upgrades to you." Black Horse Tavern & Pub will hold a grand reopening in Fall 2024.

New Bergen County Pizzeria Homage To Popular Owner's Late Grandmother
The owner of a popular Bergen County pizzeria that shuttered in August 2022 is weeks away from reopening a new shop. Dave Ligas, who owned Tavolino in Wallington, will be opening Casano's Pizza Parlor at 8 Highland Cross — formerly home to Top That! Donuts — in Rutherford, this spring, he tells Daily Voice. The pizzeria is named after Ligas' late grandmother: Marie Rene Casano, an "avid cook" who for years worked as a waitress at Mama Lucia’s in Newark, he said. A Bergen County Latin restaurant is getting ready to reopen more than a year after an electrical fire devastated the kitchen. Mi Flor Latin Cafe in Westwood has been closed since the fire in October 2022. The eatery announced it would be reopening on Friday, Nov. 17. Hoboken’s iconic Malibu Diner will soon close its doors, HobokenGirl reports. Malibu Diner on 14th Street will remain open through Dec. 31 before closing its doors for the building’s demolition, the report says citing the restaurant’s co-owner. Popular Rutherford BBQ joint Jim Dandy's has reopened nearly 10 months after a fire. The two-alarm fire broke out at the Park Avenue restaurant overnight in mid-May of last year. The community pitched in to help get the long-favorited rib joint back up and running.
