Paramus Crash Sends Driver To Hospital
A driver was hospitalized following a chain-reaction late-morning crash Monday in Paramus. The driver's BMW slammed into a minivan in front of the Brookdale Paramus Senior Living community on Paramus Road between Johnson and White Pine courts. There was no immediate word on the extent of the victim's injuries or whether anyone else was hurt. Paramus police, firefighters and EMS responded.

New Jersey's first major coronavirus testing site closed after only four hours on Friday. On Saturday, the site closed within minutes. A Daily Voice reader who got to the site at 9:30 a.m. waited in line until 1:30 p.m. to be tested, he said. UPDATE: New Jersey's first government-run drive-thru coronavirus testing site at Bergen Community College in Paramus closed after just four hours on Friday. Authorities: Paramus Driver, 77, Crashes Sedan Into Ridgewood Police Car At Accident Scene
A 77-year-old driver from Paramus was hospitalized after her sedan hit two cars, one of them a Ridgewood police vehicle that was stopped following another crash. The original crash occurred Monday afternoon at Linwood Avenue and Paramus Road. Police were investigating that accident when the second crash occurred. The Paramus driver, who wasn’t seriously injured, was issued a careless driving summons, police said. Her Mercury Sable had to be towed. No police were reportedly injured.

The third fire in a little over three years at a Paramus garden center severely damaged a greenhouse Wednesday night. Flames erupted at Denny Wiggers Landscapes and Garden Center on Paramus Road across from Bergen Community College shortly before 7:30 p.m. Firefighters quickly knocked it down, with no injuries reported. A 61-year-old Westwood woman was struck and killed by an SUV outside a Paramus church Sunday morning, said authorities who were seeking witnesses. Lucy Akdemir was crossing Paramus Road in front of the Assyrian Apostolic Church on Paramus Road when she was struck by a northbound 2006 Toyota Highlander driven by a 56-year-old Ridgewood woman around 11:30 a.m., Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said. Minivan Slams Into Paramus Tree: Driver Hospitalized, Wheelchair-Bound Passenger OK
The driver of a van that struck a tree early Monday afternoon in Paramus was hospitalized after complaining of chest pains. A wheelchair-bound passenger whom she was transporting wasn't injured after the crash in front of 796 Paramus Road. The driver was taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. Powerball Ticket Winner Sold In Paramus
One of two winning third-tier Powerball tickets was sold in Paramus. The ticket from the Oct. 12 drawing is good for $50,000 and was sold at Paramus Food Center on Paramus Road. The winning numbers were 12, 29, 34, 53 and 65. The Red Power Ball number was 23. The Multiplier number was 02. The lucky winner will split the $100,000 jackpot with the other person, who purchased theirs in Kenilworth. The Powerball jackpot rolls to $100 million for the Oct. 16 drawing, held at 10:59 p.m.

Wild Glen Rock Stolen Car Chase Goes Down To Paramus, Back Up To Paterson
A wild overnight pursuit of a vehicle stolen out of Glen Rock made its way south through several towns and then back north before police broke off the chase in Paterson. Start planning your alternative routes. The New Jersey Department of Transportation will be replacing the Paramus Road overpass above Route 4 beginning May 31. 100-Pound Propane Tank Leak Brings HazMat Response To Paramus Church
The Paramus hazardous materials team and fire department responded to the St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church to stop a leaking propane tank Thursday afternoon. The 100-pound tank, at the Paramus Road church for its weekend-long Greek festival, was secured by fire companies 3 and 4, police said. The tank was manufactured by Modern Propane, police said.
