Rolling Into Pascack's ER After Crash
An ambulance didn't have far to go after collecting a driver involved in a rollover in Westwood. Members of Westwood Fire Department Rescue 17 extricated the driver through the SUV's roof following the crash on Old Hook Road at Charles Street right outside the entrance/exit for Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center shortly before 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 24. The Township of Washington Volunteer Ambulance Corps brought the victim into the emergency room. There was no immediate word on possible summonses or charges or the extent of injuries.

19: Charitable Westwood Thrift Shop Closing After 63 Years
A Westwood thrift shop that helped fund a local art school and hospital has shuttered after 63 years in business. Monday will be the last day of business for "Our Thrift Shop" on Old Hook Road. Proceeds from the second-hand store went to the Pascack Valley Hospital. The, in 2007, the hospital closed, and the thrift shop reopened to help fund the Art School at Old Church in Demarest. 19: Bergen County Hospital Worker Source Of Nursing Home Outbreak
A COVID-19 outbreak at a Bergen County nursing home has been linked to an area hospital worker. Twelve residents and eight staff members at CareOne At Valley in Westwood were involved in the outbreak, according to the New Jersey Health Department. Surveillance testing and contact tracing efforts linked the new cases at the 120-bed facility on Old Hook Road to a local hospital worker, the company said in a statement. Ends Up On Top Of Parked Car In Crash With Pickup, Sedan In Westwood Crash
No serious injuries were immediately reported in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Westwood. Firefighters had to extricate the driver of a sedan involved in the crash with a pickup truck and a MINI Cooper that plowed through a fence and a row of hedges and landed on a parked car on Old Hook Road near Emerson Road around 1:45 p.m. Borough police temporarily closed the road for an investigation and clearing of the wreckage. A private cremation was planned this weekend for a popular retired Emerson High School music teacher and Korean War veteran whose body was found outside his Westwood apartment. Daniel Ludovici, 84, apparently was headed to the bathroom before dawn Monday when he either tripped or suffered a medical episode and went crashing through a window at the Coventry Square Apartments off Charles Street across Old Hook Road from Pascack Valley Medical Center, authorities said. A Westwood diner patron was turning blue and not breathing after a piece of food got lodged in his throat on New Year’s Day. Off-duty New Jersey State Police Major Michael Rinaldi was rendering aid when Westwood Police Officers Greg Dorfman and Stephanie Laurent arrived at the Westwood Diner & Pancake House on Old Hook Road around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday. Responders Clear Roofing Glue Fumes From HackensackUMC At Pascack
UPDATE: Firefighters used fans to clear noxious fumes Saturday from a section of HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley caused by chemicals used in roofing glue. Workers were working on a roof of the hospital on Old Hook Road in Westwood when the incident occurred, sickening several people. Police, firefighters and a Bergen County hazardous materials unit were summoned just after 12:30 p.m. Ramsey Rescue sent the decontamination unit in case any workers or others were exposed to the chemicals. Ambulances were also put on standby before it was determined that evacuations weren't necessary.
