An air quality alert has been issued for several areas across New Jersey and Pennsylvania through late Friday, June 14. The most serious alert, an Air Quality Action Day, has been issued from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. across Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Essex, and Union counties. A flood watch is in effect across 18 of New Jersey's counties as thunderstorms with the possibility of a tornado moves in, the National Weather Service said. The elusive alligator that kept a Central Jersey park closed for more than a week was captured about 400 yards from where it was first spotted Wednesday, Aug. 30, authorities said. On Thursday night, Sept. 7, officers from the Piscataway Police Department found the 4-foot-long gator near 2nd Avenue, in the roadway in front of a home around 10:10, Middlesex police said. 23-Year-Old Airlifted After Driver Sends Car Into Oncoming Traffic On I-78: Police
A 23-year-old woman was flown to the hospital in a crash on Interstate 78 Sunday, June 25, New Jersey State Police said. An Acura Integra driven by a 23-year-old Manville man ran off the highway to the left and crossed the center median, entering the westbound lanes around 9 a.m. near milepost 22.7, in Clinton Township, NJSP Trooper Charles Marchan said. The Acura was struck by a westbound Hyundai. The 23-year-old Acura driver was seriously injured, as was his passenger, a Middlesex woman, who was flown to the hospital. The Hyundai's passengers suffered moderate injuries.

A collection of crime-fighting 'supergroups' nailed 42 defendants in a series of pinpointed attacks on organized gangs dealing drugs, packing weapons and waging street warfare in North Jersey, authorities announced.
