Graphic Footage Shows Good Samaritans, Police Dragging Injured Newark Officer To Safety
Newly-released footage shows the terrifying moment one of two rookie, Newark police officers were shot by a sniper Tuesday, Nov. 1 (scroll for video). The footage apparently captured by neighbors shows a good Samaritan stop her vehicle to help one of the injured officers bleeding from his neck on the ground near Van Velsor Place and Chancellor Avenue. She appears to get some type of garment from her vehicle to stop the bleeding as other officers rush over — then gunshots ring out. : Newark Firefighters Revive Car Crash Victim Thanks To Newly Implemented Training
A newly-implemented policy in Newark requiring all firefighters respond to life-threatening calls paid off big time Saturday. Firefighters who otherwise may not have responded to the crash at Elizabeth Avenue and W. Peddie Street were able to revive one of the drivers. Arriving crews found one of the drivers without a pulse, and Battalion Chief Orlando Arce immediately began chest compressions while members of Engine 10 administered oxygen, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. Eight Newark businesses were ticketed in the last two days for violating Gov. Phil Murphy's COVID-19 orders, local officials said. Even further, Mayor Ras J. Baraka urged Newark residents to follow a 10-day lockdown that began Nov. 25, after 41 percent of East Ward residents and 21 percent of residents citywide tested positive. The 21 percent citywide rate is more than twice the rate of the statewide rate. Amazon Opens Another North Jersey Facility This Week
Amazon is opening another new delivery station in North Jersey this week. The 640,000 square-foot building Newark facility on Delancy Street will create 100 full- and part-time jobs all paying at least $15 an hour. Hundreds of driver opportunities for Amazon’s Delivery Service Partners and Amazon Flex drivers are also opening up.
