NJ Postal Carrier Admits Dumping Election Ballots A postal carrier from Hudson County admitted Thursday in federal court that he dumped 1,875 pieces of mail -- including general election ballots and campaign flyers – instead of delivering them. Nicholas Beauchene, 26, of Kearny was nabbed by special agents of the U.S. Postal Service’s Office of Inspector General after a Saddle Brook man reported finding dumped bundles of mail in a dumpster behind a North Arlington bank last fall. USPS: Undelivered Union Mail Dumped In Trash Mail that had not been delivered was found in a recycling container in Union Saturday, police said.  In a release, Union police said the mail was found at a home on Elberson Court. An "abandoned" USPS vehicle was found nearby, police also said.  Police held the mail until it could be picked up by investigators from the United States Postal Service.  London Mulcahy, a spokeswoman for the USPS Office of the Inspector General, said the vehicle was not abandoned but had broken down and was later retrieved by USPS personnel.  But she did say Friday that the inspector genera…

Leaky Roof Temporarily Closes Mahwah Post Office A leaky roof has temporarily closed the Mahwah post office, USPS officials said Thursday. No mail was damaged and delivery to street addresses will not be affected, officials said. Post Office Box customers can pick up their mail at the Mahwah Carrier Annex on Industrial Avenue, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Ramsey and Saddle River post offices were suggested as alternatives by the USPS. There was no timetable of when the post office would reopen as of Thursday afternoon.
