A Mahwah resident has filed a civil lawsuit claiming that a false police report led to a SWAT response at his home, causing severe emotional distress and placing his family in harm’s way. Little Falls native James Richard Hearney died on March 23. He was 38 years old. Hearney graduated from Passaic Valley Regional High School and went on to become a telecom electrician with Local #164, IBEW of Paramus. Hearney had been working with Forest Electric of Edison but fishing and hunting were his passions, his obituary says. Authorities on Wednesday announced the arrest of a 52-year-old man in the deadly October shooting of 18-year-old Jason Albert Kutt in Nockamixon State Park. A 38-year-old off-duty police officer was shot and killed Tuesday when a juvenile accidentally fired off a weapon while the pair were hunting in Sussex County, Daily Voice has learned.
