Parachuter Flown To Hospital Following Sussex County Skydiving Accident, State Police Say
A parachuter was flown to the hospital following a skydiving accident in Sussex County, state police said. The parachuter got stuck in power lines at the Sussex Airport in Wantage around 9:35 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, NJSP Trooper Charles Marchan told DailyVoice.com. Troopers rescue the parachuter from the power lines as a medical helicopter landed near the scene to assist with transportation. The parachuter was then flown to a nearby hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries, Marchan said. Additional details were not released.

: Two Cats, Dog Killed In Bergenfield House Fire
Two cats and a dog died in a pre-Christmas fire that severely damaged a Bergenfield home. Firefighters who responded within three minutes were met by flames on the first floor of the 2½-story Lunn Avenue home shortly after 1 p.m., Bergenfield Fire Chief Edward J Kneisler III said. "Because the fire was extending to the upper floors, a second alarm was requested," the chief said. Kneisler declared the fire under control in about 45 minutes. Smoky Blaze Ravages Englewood Home
A firefighter was reportedly injured battling a smoky house blaze Wednesday afternoon in Englewood. The extent of injuries wasn't immediately known after he was transported to the hospital by BLS. Firefighters were met by heavy fire and smoke when they arrived at the noontime fire in the rear of the home on West Hamilton Avenue at Pindle Avenue. Jersey City Contractor, 44, Dies After Falling 9 Stories Down Elevator Shaft
A 44-year-old contractor fell nine stories to his death at a Jersey City construction site Wednesday morning. Jersey City’s police and fire departments responded to 136 Summit Ave., where the man was found unconscious around 7:45 a.m., Jersey City spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead. OSHA was responding. The man's identity was not released.

Lifeless Girl, 13, Pulled From Backyard Mahwah Pool
A 13-year-old girl was clinging to life after responders pulled her from a backyard pool in Mahwah on Thursday. The girl was among visitors to a Snow Drive home when she drifted into the deep end, responders said. The others apparently didn't know how to swim and, instead, tried to get her to grab onto items so they could pull her out, they said. Police instantly got to the home, on a private road off a dead end, and furiously tried to revive the victim before she was rushed to the hospital. Man Tells Police He Was Robbed Of $10K In Jersey City
Police say robbers may have specifically targeted a Jersey City man Thursday morning and gotten away with a large amount of cash. Officers responded to 484 Mercer St. a little before 10 a.m. on a report of a robbery, a police spokeswoman said. The 61-year-old victim said he was robbed of about $10,000 and the robbers used a stun gun. The victim was treated at an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, the spokeswoman also said. No other information was immediately available Thursday afternoon.

1 Extricated In Route 208 Wyckoff Rollover, Traffic Crawls
Traffic was at a stand-still along Route 208 northbound after a car veered off the roads and into the woods during Thursday. The incident occurred between Russel and Ewing avenues around 5 p.m. The road reopened about an hour later but drivers reported slow-moving traffic. The victim was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries and the car was removed by a tow truck. Michael Jannicelli also contributed to this story.

Firefighter Hospitalized Battling Waldwick Blaze
A firefighter was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries while battling a Waldwick blaze Tuesday afternoon. The three-alarm Franklin Turnpike fire broke out at approximately 1:30 p.m. It was under control in less than an hour. Mutual aid was requested from several neighboring departments. Boyd A.
