Honda Recalling 750K+ Vehicles Nationwide Due To Faulty Air Bag Concerns
More than three-quarters of a million Honda and Acura vehicles are being recalled due to potentially faulty air bags that could cause them to deploy unexpectedly. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that the motor vehicle giant is recalling upwards of 750,000 cars, SUVs, minivans, and pick-up trucks due to the malfunctioning air bags, which could pose a safety hazard, the agency says. UPDATE: An out-of-control SUV creamed two sedans as it careened down the sidewalk of a residential Saddle Brook street, sending what authorities said was an intoxicated driver to the hospital just before daybreak Friday. Saddle Brook officers who were first on the scene freed the driver, a 30-year-old man from Yonkers, NY, following the 6:14 a.m. Feb. 2 crash on Pehle Avenue, said Captain John A. A 78-year-old driver was hospitalized and received a summons after his SUV collided with another vehicle and slammed into a utility pole in Paramus on Sunday. A 10-year-old passenger in the Honda CR-V was treated for facial injuries at the scene of the 5:20 p.m. July 2 crash on Paramus Road across from Fairway Oaks Park. Ho-Ho-Kus firefighters wedged wooden blocks behind a back tire of an SUV that had mounted a Route 17 guardrail Friday afternoon. A young female driver got out OK and didn't appear injured -- leaving the car tipped in a precarious position -- following the single-vehicle crash on the southbound highway near Hollywood Avenue on Friday afternoon, Feb. 24. Three family members have died as a result of a weekend crash on Route 9, authorities said. Masoud B. Salib, 61, and his wife, Hanaa I. Salib, 52, died on Sunday, July 3, while their son, Mark M. Salib — a former Colts Neck football lineman — died on Tuesday, July 5, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said. The Salibs are survived by another son, Danny.
