Glen Rock police investigating a rash of bicycle thefts at its train stations nabbed a familiar face with help from technology and their borough's fire chief. Detectives attached a GPS tracker to a decoy bicycle before racking it at the NJ TRANSIT Bergen Line station, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. Man Struck, Killed By Train In Glen Rock
A man in his 50s was struck and killed by a commuter train in Glen Rock Wednesday morning. The victim was struck near the Glen Rock Borough Hall train station at 9:22 a.m., NJ TRANSIT said. Authorities couldn't immediately address reports that he may have parked at the station and then jumped from the platform. Firefighters quickly stopped a Wednesday afternoon blaze from doing serious damage to the interior of a Fair Lawn home. The two-alarm fire severely damaged the front of the 32nd Street residence just off southbound Route 208. Fire damaged a Fair Lawn auto repair shop on Saturday. Firefighters “quickly stretched hose into the building and got the fire knocked down” after it broke out at Prestige Autowerks on Fair Lawn Avenue at Third Street shortly after 6 p.m., Fire Chief Thomas Carney said. Heavy winds blew a tree onto a Glen Rock house early Christmas morning. Firefighters were called to 172 Glen Ave., at approximately 4:!5 a.m. All occupants were deemed safe but the house reportedly suffered serious damage. No one was injured when a Subaru and a Chevy Suburban collided late Saturday morning in Glen Rock. Both vehicles had to be towed by flatbed from the intersection Hamilton Avenue and Rock Road. Glen Rock firefighters tended to a fuel spill. Police were investigating.
