Gunman, 22, Arrested In Shooting Of Kearny Man In Paterson, Police Say
Police have arrested the 22-year-old gunman who they say is responsible for a June shooting in Paterson.
Rafael A. Cabrera Perea, of Paterson, is believed to have shot the 26-year-old man near Prospect and Ellison streets around 2:40 a.m. on June 17, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi said.
While on scene, officers were notified that the victim, a Kearny resident, had been taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment. An investigation identified Cabrera Perea as the gunman, Valdes said.

Paterson Detectives Seize 430 Bags Of Heroin, 44 Of Coke, $4,223 Drug Cash, Bust Four
Paterson police detectives seized 430 bags of heroin, 44 bags of coke and nearly a half-pound of pot in a series of busts.
They also confiscated $4,223 in suspected drug money, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said Tuesday.
Police charged two men – Shamir Wade, 26, and Shaheem Austin, 33 -- with having the heroin at Wade’s second-floor East 31st Street apartment, Speziale said.
They also seized $869 in drug proceeds from Austin and $121 from Wade, he said.
Caught with the cocaine and $1,842 in drug cash at East 21st and Ellison streets was Gregorio Penaranda, 44, the director said.

Paterson PD: Undercover Stings Nets Nearly 700 Heroin Folds, 100 Crack Vials, Two Arrests
An undercover Paterson police drug sting produced nearly 700 heroin folds, nearly 100 vials of crack and the arrests of two city men who live together, authorities said.
Nygeir Barrett, 24, and Tymere McMillan, 22, of Hamilton Avenue were charged with various drug offenses in the sting after they were arrested around the corner from their apartment.
The charges include selling within 1,000 feet of the pre-K-through-3rd grade Edward E. Kilpatrick School on Ellison Street, Police Director Jerry Speziale said.
