Drugged Driver Rattles Resident After Predawn Crash Off Route 17: Waldwick PD
A driver from Philadelphia who'd just crashed his car off Route 17 before dawn Friday banged on a nearby resident's door, shouting incoherently, and was arrested moments later, authorities said.
Bret Michaels Staab, 41, crashed his 2022 Nissan Sentra on Manhattan Avenue in Waldwick, then abandoned it there, shortly after 6:30 a.m. Jan. 12, Police Lt. Troy E. Seifert said.
Police got a call from a resident when Staab began banging on the door of a Dora Avenue home, the lieutenant said.

Authorities seized nearly 1,000 THC vapes and edibles -- along with nearly $14,000 in cash -- while busting the owner of a North Haledon mini mart who they said sold the drug-infused products to underage buyers.
Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said his department teamed up with Haledon and North Haledon police to investigate and then raid the Mini Mart Food Store at 845 Belmont Avenue.

Heroin, 19 Illegal Firearms Seized Last Week In Newark
Police recovered 19 illegal firearms, loaded magazines, heroin and more from more than a dozen individuals in Newark in the last week, they said.
The recoveries — from June 28 to July 7 — mark a 30 percent increase over the same period last year, Interim Newark Public Safety Director Raul Malave said.

A 14-year-old boy was carrying a stolen gun, 266 heroin folds and four bags of crack when Paterson detectives nabbed him at one of the city's deadliest drug corners, authorities said.

Men Who Brought Ohio Teen Girls To NJ Motels Charged With Sex Assault, Prosecutor Says
A pair of men were arrest on accusations they brought two teen girls from Ohio to New Jersey, then lodged them in motels, had sex with one of them and and gave both girls drugs and alcohol, authorities said Tuesday.
The girls, ages 14 and 15, met 32-year-old Norman Berry, of the Bronx, in Ohio, and then traveled together to New Jersey on Feb. 24, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
The teens were staying in two, North Bergen motels, where the 15-year-old victim was sexually assaulted by Berry and Tyrell Piazza, 31, of Jersey City, Suarez said.

South Hackensack PD: Officers Bust Out-Of-Staters With Guns, Ammo, Drugs
SOUTH HACKENSACK, N.J. -- A pair of South Hackensack police officers found two handguns, a high-capacity magazine, drugs and $6,300 in illicit proceeds after stopping two men and a teenager, all from Massachusetts, on Route 46, authorities said.
They arrested both men -- identified as Brian DeLeon, 24, of Leominster, MA (originally from Paterson) and Enrique Coello, 21, from Lunenburg, MA -- and detained the juvenile, 17.
