Hackensack government went on alert after an elected official was accused of escorting a relative he knew had tested positive for the coronavirus into City Hall even though the building had been closed to the public. : Hackensack Market Warned, Jersey City Store Fined $90K
A Jersey City dollar store is facing more than $90,000 in fines after owners overcharged customers for cleaning supplies among COVID-19 fears, city officials said. Prices of disinfectant wipes, sprays and rubbing alcohol were increased at the 99 Cent Dream store on Newark Avenue, according to Municipal Prosecutor Jake Hudnut, who helms the city's Quality of Life Task Force. : Hackensack's Deputy Mayor Giving Away Free Turkeys
Giving thanks is about giving back for Hackensack Deputy Mayor David Sims. For the second year in a row, Sims will be giving Thanksgiving turkeys to local families in need as part of of Hackensack Jr. Basketball’s (HJB) Turkey Give-A-Way. The deputy mayor will be in Carver Park on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. until noon. Recipients have been selected in advance by local churches and organizations and vouchers have been distributed.
