Paramus Resident Rescues Elderly Neighbor From House Fire
A Paramus home was filling with smoke when a kind and courageous resident rescued an elderly neighbor. The Nov. 4 afternoon blaze apparently ignited in a microwave of the Willard Road home near Midland Avenue. It then spread to kitchen cabinets and eventually into the attic. Firefighters opened the roof and doused the blaze as Paramus EMS members wrapped the senior resident in blankets while tending to him on the front lawn of a neighbor's home. Boyd A. Tractor-Trailer Rams Sedan Off Route 208
Two people were hospitalized Friday night after a tractor-trailer exiting Route 208 in Glen Rock struck a sedan. Witnesses claimed the driver of the rig ignored a stop sign exiting the southbound highway at Harristown Road and struck the Honda Civic around 6:45 p.m. Nov. 3. Glen Rock EMS reported three injuries at the scene, with two victims taken by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center. There was no immediate word on their conditions. No students were aboard a school bus from Bergenfield that collided head-on with an SUV Friday morning in Paramus. A Paramus EMS ambulance crew took the driver of the Nissan Kicks subcompact to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening following the crash on East Midland Avenue at From Road shortly before 7:30 a.m. Oct. 27. Driver Hospitalized After SUV Narrowly Misses Bus Shelter, Slams Into Tree On Route 17
A driver was hospitalized with chest pains following a pre-dawn single-vehicle crash Friday on rain-soaked Route 17. The SUV narrowly missed taking out a bus shelter but ran over a sign and then slammed into a tree on the highway's southbound side just past Hollywood Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus shortly before 6:30 a.m. Oct. 20. Morning Fire Clears Glen Rock Grammar School
Early arrival students were escorted from the Alexander Hamilton School in Glen Rock on Wednesday after a small fire ignited in a hallway light fixture. Everything went smoothly as the youngsters were temporarily brought from the K-5 school on Harristown Road to the nearby Academy of Our Lady shortly after 8:30 a.m. Oct. 18. Police officers who arrived first immediately doused the fire with extinguishers, Glen Rock Police Lt. Frank Riggio said. No injuries were reported, the lieutenant said. A pair of SUVs collided in Paramus on Friday the 13th, leaving one of them on its side. The driver of a Honda Pilot was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with unspecified injuries after his vehicle broad-sided a KIA Telluride at the intersection of Paramus Road and Starling Court. An elongated tractor trailer took down a traffic control signal in a tight turn at a Paramus intersection Tuesday, Oct. 10. The truck driver was turning right from A&S Drive onto Winters Avenue, when a car coming toward him forced him to quickly steer more to the right, around 1 p.m., sources tell Daily Voice. A Passaic County Health Department employee was hospitalized after the SUV that she was driving was T-boned in Ridgewood. The worker had just visited a patient at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood when the crash occurred Sunday night, her brother said. Firefighters made quick work of a smoky rooftop blaze at the Macy's in the Paramus Park mall on Sunday. A large transformer in a rooftop parapet caught fire shortly after 12:30 p.m., Oct. 1.
