Municipal Employee Headed To Tree Lighting Hospitalized After Serious Pal Park Crash
A Palisades Park employee headed to the borough Christmas tree lighting narrowly avoided a much worse fate when a driver ran a stop sign and knocked his SUV into a telephone pole, splitting it in two. The employee was towing a light tower to the event at Borough Hall when the female motorist ran the stop sign and rammed the truck on Central Boulevard around 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, witnesses said. Bergenfield Family Routed By Fire
Everyone got out OK but a Bergenfield family lost everything in an early-morning fire on Friday, authorities said. The two-alarm blaze broke out on the second floor of the 2½-story home at North Prospect and Central avenues shortly before 6 a.m. It was knocked down within 45 minutes. Firefighters from Teaneck, Englewood, Dumont, New Milford, Demarest and Ridgefield Park provided mutual aid either at the scene or in coverage. The cause wasn't immediately determined. Thieves Hit Bergenfield Woman With Car After Stealing PS5 During Facebook Marketplace Sale
A Bergenfield woman who thought she was selling a Play Station through Facebook Marketplace had it snatched from her by a group of thieves who clipped her with their car as they fled. One of the thieves took the PS5 from the 29-year-old victim at the Dunkin Donuts on South Washington Avenue and got into a silver Dodge Charger with three other occupants shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday, Detective Lt. Glen Rock Homes Temporarily Evacuated, Roads Closed After Work Crew Ruptures Gas Main
Two dozen residents in the immediate area had to leave their homes after a Glen Rock DPW crew ruptured a gas line while doing work on a sidewalk ramp Wednesday morning. Officials offered shelter at Borough Hall while repairs were done at the corner of Main Street and Argyle Road following the mishap just after 9:30 a.m. Police transported several residents who didn't have vehicles, Chief Dean Ackermann said. Neighbors have rallied to the rescue of three New Milford families who each lost nearly everything in a fire last weekend.
