'Swatting' Call Clears Hackensack High School
UPDATE: Authorities gave the all-clear for Hackensack High School students and staff to return after a bomb threat phoned in from out of state cleared the school. The "swatting" incident began shortly before 9 a.m. Friday, March 4, when a caller "indicated he put bombs at a specific location" on school grounds, said Hackensack Police Capt. Every dog has his day, they say, and the four-legged members of the Bergen County Sheriff's K-9 Unit shared theirs on Saturday with dozens of mostly young attendees and their parents at Overpeck Park. A police chase ended when the driver crashed a stolen SUV into a utility pole on Route 17 in Paramus before dawn Monday, authorities said. Officer Nicholas Tanelli began pursuing the 2018 Audi SQ5 after it sped past him on the southbound highway shortly before 1:30 a.m., Ehrenberg said. The driver -- identified as Terrence T. A group of knife-wielding thugs who’ve been robbing convenience stores in Bergen County apparently struck again, authorities said. The clerk at the Route 46 7-Eleven clerk in Elmwood Park told police the gang of four robbed the store of $400, 19 packs of Newports and rolling papers shortly after midnight Friday.
