Lyndhurst PD: Vandal Damages 9/11 Monument
A police lieutenant caught a vandal damaging a new 9/11 memorial in Lyndhurst, authorities said. Alfredo Acevedo, 27, was throwing decorative river stone from the newly erected monument at its decorative wall, the replica stone twin towers and a steel beam from Ground Zero when Lt. James Goral and a patron at Town Hall Park spotted him, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. Goral arrested Acevedo, whose last known address was in Clifton. Port Authority Police At WTC Reunite Non-Verbal Missing Man With Family
A missing Bronx man who couldn't speak and wasn't carrying identification seemed confused as he wandered around the 9/11 memorial in lower Manhattan before dawn Thursday. Port Authority officers assigned to the World Trade Center handed him a pen -- on which the man wrote an address that ended up reuniting him with his family. Loved ones and others distributed fliers and police had issued alerts in the search for 21-year-old Tanvir Hossain. Hossain, who's non-verbal and has schizophrenia, was last seen on Sunday.
