Ridgewood's Travell School Prepares 50th Anniversary Celebrations

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — The 2015-2016 school year marks the 50th in history for Travell Elementary School and all are welcome to join the festivities.

Students at the Travell School in Ridgewood will put on 1965-themed performances in honor of the school's 50th anniversary.

Officials are inviting back all past alumni, faculty, and teachers for a ceremony on Friday, Jan. 15 at 1:30 p.m.

"How proud we are of our school," said Travell Principal Margy Leininger. "To think of all the learning and fun that has taken place here over the last 50 years."

Each grade will present a performance that will focus in varying aspects of 1965, the school's founding year, the principal said.

Kindergarteners will perform an act based on Dr. Seuss' book. "Fox In Socks, and first graders will do a rendition from the 1965 film "The Sound Of Music." 

Second graders will focus on fashion, third graders on 1960s music, fourth graders on sports and fifth graders on news.

A screening of a 1965 performance by Travell students will also run during Friday's ceremony. 

There will be an alumni reception following the event.
