Route 17 tied up after car smashes divider in Ridgewood

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Route 17 northbound through Ridgewood came to a virtual standstill for nearly 30 minutes during Wednesday evening’s rush hour after a passenger car crashed into the concrete center divider just before 6 p.m.

One person was slightly injured but refused medical aid.

Ridgewood police shut down the fast and center lanes of the highway just south of Race Track Road while the wreckage was cleared and the accident investigated.

The vehicle was removed from the scene by flatbed tow truck.
Ridgewood police, firefighters and EMS all responded.
