Ridgewood police officer makes quick arrest in cellphone robbery attempt

ONLY ON CVP: A Ridgewood police officer quickly collared a Paterson man moments after he tried taking a cellphone near the end of a village street fair last night, authorities said.

The Fall Craft & Art Street Fair was winding down when 30-year-old Darnell Dixon tried to take the Galaxy S5 by threatening the victim just after 7 p.m. inside the Bow Tie Cinema on East Ridgewood Avenue, police said.

Officer John A. Ward, who was nearby, immediately grabbed him, they said.

Dixon was being held on $75,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.
